My name is Lindy, and I make whimsical, colorful

Some of my fondest memories are created in the serene beauty of nature. Whether it’s a sun-drenched mountain, hiking through a forest, floating the river, or seeing fall leaves drifting on a gentle breeze, I get inspired from being outdoors. My colorful tree prints serve as a reminder of the awe and wonder you experience in nature.

Trees, birds, mountains and rivers are the inspiration for my paintings.

The first time I created one of my magical woodland paintings was after a hike through a stand of beautiful aspen trees near Bend, Oregon.

Each tree seemed to have a unique personality. It looked like they had eyes and mouths, and with the wind blowing through their branches, it sounded like joyful singing!

The patterned bark of the trees reminded me of henna tattoos, and I wondered how I could capture this in a painting.

After returning home, I painted my first magical tree using vivid blues and yellows, spots of radiant red, and intricate patterns with black outlines.

To me, trees symbolize life and the interconnectedness of all things. When I am in the forest with the sun filtering through the branches and the scent of pine and fir, I feel a tremendous sense of peace and gratitude.

When I was in my forties, I studied Art Therapy at Marylhurst University. Intuitively, I knew that making and viewing art was healing. However, in school, I learned that it is scientifically proven to enhance our brains, raise serotonin levels, and make us feel good!

I have continued to paint my “Peace Trees” and it’s turned into a collection I call my Magical Woodlands series.
